In yet another disappointing outcome for Asante Kotoko, the Porcupine Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Nsoatreman further exacerbating their recent struggles in the Ghana Premier League.

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Manaf Umar opened the scoring for Nsoatreman in the 23rd minute, causing concern among the Kotoko faithful, who have endured a string of poor results in recent times.

However, Shadrack Addo’s equaliser in the 42nd minute seemed to revive hopes for Kotoko, as they sought to salvage a positive result from the encounter.

Despite both teams’ efforts, the match appeared destined for a draw until Mohammed Abdul Rahaman’s late strike in injury time stunned the home crowd, sealing a crucial victory for Nsoatreman.

The win propelled Nsoatreman to fifth place in the league standings, leapfrogging defending champions Medeama SC in the process.

For Kotoko, however, the defeat only compounds their woes, as they now find themselves languishing in 10th place with just one win in their last eight matches. The defeat also implies the Porcupine Warriors have lost seven games in their last nine across all competitions. This dismal run marks the worst form for the club since 2017 as they are yet to record a win in their last six games, casting a shadow over their aspirations for the season.

Coach Prosper Ogum once hailed as the saviour of the club, now faces mounting pressure as Kotoko’s fortunes continue to plummet.

Despite initial success in leading the team to a Ghana Premier League trophy two seasons ago, Ogum’s recent struggles have raised doubts about his ability to turn the tide.

With every other team securing at least a home win in their last three games, Kotoko’s status as the worst-performing home team in the competition further underscores the magnitude of their predicament.

As Kotoko’s woes deepen, fans and pundits alike are left questioning whether Ogum can orchestrate a turnaround in fortunes and salvage what remains of the season for the illustrious club.
