Focus on the positives at CAF – Motsepe tells members

Newly elected CAF President Patrice Motsepe has asked members to focus on the positives of the governing body.

Patrice Motsepe was elected by acclamation as the new President of CAF in Rabat, Morocco on Friday after going unopposed following the withdrawal of his opponents from the race.

After being elected into the highest office of African Football, the 59-year old urged members of CAF to focus on the positives despite admitting there are challenges to be dealt with.

“Sometimes we see the problems, the failures at CAF and there are challenges but sometimes we must also focus on the optimistic, on the positive, on a lot of the good work that many of the staff people, our committee, the governing Committee, the ethics committees, all of the structures within CAF,” he indicated.

The South African added” We really have excellent people, who really try and do a good job, I want to express my personal deep gratitude to them.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns President went on to urge the assembly to be united in other to overcome the challenges facing football on the continent.

“We can only deal with the challenges of Africa and we will succeed; but we will only do so when we are united,” he said.
