Leicester City’s Fatawu Issahaku made an impressive return from suspension, providing an assist for Patson Daka’s opening goal in their 5-0 rout of Stoke City in the Championship on Saturday.

Two goals in a three-minute first-half spell set the Foxes on their way as Patson Daka converted from close range after a good passing move before Kasey McAteer’s deflected shot went in.

Daka got a third from the penalty spot after a foul on Wout Faes.

Jamie Vardy added a fourth seven minutes later as he got on the end of a James Justin cross before the former England striker scored a stoppage-time penalty to complete the rout.

The 19-year-old attacker, who is on loan from Sporting Lisbon, has now recorded eight assists in the league this season for the Foxes, and two goals.

Issahaku’s impressive performance comes after serving a three-match suspension following a red card for a cynical challenge in Leicester’s clash against Coventry in January.

The teenager had also previously been left out of the AFCON 2023 squad, although it was reported that he had opted out.

Despite these setbacks, Issahaku has proven himself to be a valuable asset for Leicester City, settling in well and becoming a key player in their push for a Premier League comeback.

With 11 points separating them and the second spot, the Foxes are confident of achieving promotion, which could potentially lead to Issahaku featuring in the Premier League next season if his transfer is made permanent.
