Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat says Chelsea target Mohammed Kudus could leave the club this summer following interest from clubs.

Chelsea are leading the race to sign the 22-year-old amid interest from Arsenal and Brighton as well, with the midfielder keen on a move to Premier League.

Kudus, who came close to joining Everton last summer, turned down a contract extension in April, and with two years left on his current deal, reports suggest that his current salary is not enticing enough for the talented player, and potential suitors are expected to offer him more to secure his signature.

Mislintat admits there have been informal offers but the club is yet to see an official bid from any of the potential suitors of the 22-year-old.

He added that even though he hopes the player stays, the team would have to get a replacement for him.

“There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world,” Mislintat told Ajax Life.

“The best thing for is if Kudus and Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players. But it is also possible that one goes, or both.

“It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.”

Kudus was in sensational form last season scoring 18 goals for Ajax in all competitions while shining for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.

He is, however, nursing a minor ankle injury after suffering a knock during a pre-season session a few days ago.
