Champion of Champions: Black Stars new boy Jonathan Sowah’s brace propels Medeama to victory

Medeama Striker Jonathan Sowah responded to his call-up to the Black Stars with a remarkable brace to help his team clinch the Champion of Champions title on Sunday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Ghanaian champions squared off against the FA Cup winners Dreams FC in the curtain raiser of the 2023/24 Ghanaian Premier League season in a fiercely battled affair which gave an implication of an exciting season ahead.

After a few attacks from both sides, Sowah stole the headlines by scoring two goals in the space of four minutes to put his team in a comfortable lead before half-time.

The 24-year-old scored found the back of the in the 19th and 23rd minutes of the game further establishing his prowess and justifying his invite to the national team.

After the break, Dreams FC tried to bounce back as they kept knocking on the doors in a bid to change the result. While they managed to reduce the deficit by converting from the spot through Agyemin Boateng Mensah, Medeama held on to end the game in their favour.

While Sowah after his impressive performance is expected to join the Black Stars camp on Monday as they prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic, Medeama SC would continue preparations for their next match against Horoya in the CAF Champions League.

Dreams FC on the other hand would also be locking horns with Sierra Leonean side FC Kallon.
