The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has rendered its verdict in the case of King Faisal FC’s appeal against the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In an announcement made on Friday, October 27, 2023, CAS upheld the decision of the GFA’s Appeals Committee in the dispute between King Faisal FC and Tamale City FC.

The CAS decision also clarified the financial implications of the ruling. It specified that the costs of arbitration would be determined separately and served to both parties by the CAS Court Office, with the entire financial burden to be borne by Kumasi Faisal FC.

Notably, King Faisal FC had already paid a fee of CHF45,000 to CAS at the initiation of the case.

Additionally, the ruling dictated that King Faisal FC must bear its own costs and is obliged to pay the GFA a total sum of CHF 4,000 (four thousand Swiss Francs) as a contribution towards the GFA’s legal fees and other expenses associated with the arbitration proceedings.

Throughout the arbitration proceedings, the GFA was represented by Naa Odofoley Nortey (Esq), with support from General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq). On the other side, King Faisal FC was represented by Lawyer John Kwame Quayson.
