Ghanaian champions Hearts of Oak will know their opponent for the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Friday, August 13 2021.

It is, however, expected that no Ghanaian club will be featured in the Confederation Cup draw, because neither Medeama nor Asante Kotoko have accepted to participate.

The draw for the preliminary round of the 2021/22 CAF interclub competitions will take place in Cairo.

CAF Member Associations were given a deadline of Tuesday, 10 August 2021 to submit their representatives.

Both competitions will begin 10 September 2021 with the first round of preliminaries.

The group stages will begin in February 2022.

The 12 best-placed national associations in the CAF ranking are authorized to enter two clubs in the different competitions. These are South Africa, Algeria, Angola, DR Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.

Hearts of Oak, who secured the domestic double by winning the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup, are hoping to excel in Africa on their return after a six-year break.
