The team led by Management Committee chairman Randy Abbey departed Nuoakchott on Sunday morning with a Ghana Airforce plane.

They landed in Ghana later in the evening and were met by Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, Ghana Football Association vice president Mark Addo and other stakeholders.

Mustapha Ussif congratulated the team for winning the trophy and giving Ghana a befitting independence day celebration.

“I congratulate you for what you have done – for lifting the flag of Ghana high on the global map.

“Three weeks ago, you left Ghana empty handed but have returned home with a gold medal and a trophy, you couldn’t have given us any better independence day gift than this,” he said in his address to the team.

The Black Satellites are expected to present the trophy to Ghana’s president H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo in the coming week.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored to help Ghana win their fourth AFCON trophy at the U-20 level.
