Black Bombers lament lack of support ahead of All Africa Games

A lot is expected from Team Ghana in the 2019 All Africa Games scheduled to take place in Morocco. But as has been with previous scripts, there is a lot of doubt beneath that hope. Ofori Asare, the coach of the national boxing team, the Black Bombers, has bemoaned the lack of attention for his team. He says any form of support including official visits will go a long way to boost the morale of the boxers. “The trend has been like that for long, supporting football is something that we don’t know whether we can change it,” he said. “We need some of the leadership to visit the team to inspire the team, because it is like nobody cares you just train.” Eager to make an impact, officials say the team will be in Cape Coast from Saturday, August 3 till the 15^th. “We are getting them ready to go for camp which is good news for us to sharpen our skills and wherever we are now. “We are going to work more at the camp now with specific training and we will be watching those countries going for the Games to get familiar with the All African Games.” Jessie Lartey picked bronze in the 64kg light-welterweight division despite his controversial defeat to Canada’s Thomas Blumenfeld at the Oxenford Studios at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
