Bechem United forward Augustine Okrah has apologised to the club’s president, teammates, and fans for his unethical behaviour in the FA Cup final on Sunday.
Okrah was sent off in the second half for headbutting assistant referee Stephen Balanguena after a decision went against him.
His dismissal proved costly as Hunters lost 2-1 to Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium, denying them their second FA Cup title.
“I tender an unconditional apology for the unethical behaviour that caused my early exit from the FA Cup final between Hearts of Oak and Bechem United t the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday,” said Okrah in a statement.
“I am extremely sorry and remorseful for the harm this have caused including hurting sentiments. I am ashamed of myself for having behaved in such a manner.”
“To [Bechem United president] Mr Kingsley Owusu Achau, the patrons, the management, My indefatigable teammates, the entire fans (Hunters), friends of Bechem United, the good people of Ahafo Region and the entire sporting fraternity please forgive me for this one last time. I m sorry for my behaviour and apologise from the core of my heart.”
Okrah, who scored 18 goals in just-ended season, is reportedly close to joining Tanzanian club Simba SC.
