Bechem United climbed to the second position in the Ghana Premier League table after securing a slim win over Hearts of Oak at the Nana Fosu Gyaebour Park on Saturday.

Bechem United who entered the game from the back of a defeat to Tamale City last weekend had not won at home in their last two games against the 2020/2021 champions but finally changed the story when they found the back of the net in the 22nd minute of the game.

Abdul Karim located Seth Osei who set the ball forward to attack through the spaces in the defence of Hearts of Oak. The midfielder found Clinton Duodu in the box who eventually won a penalty after being brought down by Denis Korsah.

Hafiz Konkoni converted it expertly to give his team the only goal as well as the maximum points. Konkoni now has 13 league goals and leads Berekum Chelsea’s Mezack Afriyie who is set to feature in Berekum Chelsea’s trip to the Duns Park on Sunday.

Following Medeama SC’s loss on Friday to Accra Lions, the Hunters climbed to second with 44 points leaving Hearts of Oak in fourth place.
