Ayew resolves to help Swansea avoid relegation

Swansea City returnee Andre Dede Ayew has made his goal clear after putting pen to paper in a three-and-a-half deal on Wednesday. “My goal and my challenge is to do everything possible to help the club stay up – the same as it is for all the players and the staff,” he told the club’s website on Thursday. “That’s what I am here for and I will do everything I can to make sure it happens.” The Swans currently lie 19^th on the 20-club log. They moved out of the drop zone for the first time in several months last Tuesday but results in games involving Stoke City and Southampton on Wednesday saw them plummet again. “The season is going to be long and there will be a lot of tough games,” Ayew said. “It’s not going to be easy – everyone wants to stay up and when you look at the table, 20^th place to ninth or 10^th is very, very tight.” The former West Ham United player said Swansea City have the players to weather the current storm. “When you know the players who are here you know the quality they have. Sometimes in football you can have some bad results, but I think we have the quality of players to play in the Premier League. “We want to stay at this level and we need to do everything possible to make sure we don’t let the city down and we don’t let the fans down.” The last time Ayew played for Swansea in 2015/2016, Francesco Guidolin was in charge.
