Ashanti Gold Sporting Club is making the best out of the season’s break due to the coronavirus outbreak to make changes to a system that looked shaky.

Roy Arthur, who previously worked as Chief Executive officer for Bono giants BA United, was appointed new Sporting Director of the club last Thursday and has already set his sights on big things for the club.

Ashgold regarded as one of the traditional and biggest clubs in the country have had an undulating form and structure for quite sometime since winning the league some five years ago under coach Bashir Hayford.

Now, the new management have emphatically stated that things are set to change.

“It is a great honour to come close again and to be appointed as a sporting director to also lead the young guys in the game,” Roy Arthur said in an interview.

“Way back with BA United whose support base is equally as big as Ashgold, I had to understand them to be able to work and I think that is what I am going to be doing here.”

The new management, Roy inclusive, say they are going to restore the club to its rightful place; the top.

Ashanti Gold were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup last September at the hands of RS Berkane.

The new management want this to be a thing of the past as they look to broaden their scope and do business with bigger clubs in Europe.

“The new management will not leave Ashanti Gold where it met it. We will do our best, make good signings and ensure that we are able to hit the European market. With our new coach who is Italian, I think we can all achieve great things together.”
