Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies faced a formidable challenge in their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat against AS Mande, led by the lethal forward Oumou Kone.

The match at San Pedro’s Laurent Pokou Stadium saw AS Mande secure an impressive win, placing them at the top of Group B.

Having clinched a victory in their opening game against defending champions AS FAR earlier in the week, Ampem Darkoa Ladies aimed to secure another win against AS Mande to secure a spot in the semi-finals. However, Oumou Kone’s outstanding performance dashed their hopes, as the Malian side dominated the game from start to finish.

Kone opened the scoring in the 40th minute, providing AS Mande with a confidence-boosting lead. The striker continued to trouble Ampem Darkoa in the second half, securing the second and third goals in quick succession in the 71st and 72nd minutes.

The defeat leaves Ampem Darkoa Ladies in a precarious position, needing a positive result in their last match against Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes to have a chance of advancing.

With AS Mande leading the group with 4 points, Ampem Darkoa follows with 3 points, along with AS FAR also on 3 points, and Huracanes with 1 point, the group remains wide open heading into the final round on Sunday.
