True to form, this year’s AIPS Awards saw TV3’s 3Sports desk lifting high the flag of Ghana.

This is consistent with how the team fared in previous editions.

Coming up tops across a number of categories, the feat speaks to the excellence the desk continues to exhibit in the local sports journalism space under the leadership of Group Head of Sports Juliet Bawuah.

Juliet Bawuah and her colleagues Yaw Ofosu Larbi and Daniel Yeboah told compelling stories under the consideration year, one of which caught the eyes of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The submitted stories included ‘Football behind bars’ and ‘Pursuit in Passion in kids gloves: Prince ‘The Buzz’ Larbi takes early step to greatness’ by Juliet Bawuah, ‘The tale of Abu Imoro’ by Yaw Ofosu Larbi and ‘A day in the life of a Phobian’ by Onua Sports’ Daniel Yeboah.

The awards submissions included an inspiring level of journalistic content from across five continents, culminating in a hybrid digital ceremony of storytelling excellence in Vigevano on March 22, 2021.

The third edition of the AIPS Awards received an outstanding total of 1,871 submissions from 129 nations around the globe.

In submitting their work for consideration for the nine categories, sports journalists from across the globe engaged in a dialogue that is crucial in highlighting the importance of the profession and the need to invest in its culture and independence.
