Young Ghanaian forward Afena Felix Afena-Gyan showcased his goal-scoring prowess in an impressive pre-season performance against lower-tier side Pieve di Bono.

The 20-year-old netted a hat-trick during the match, contributing significantly to his team’s emphatic 18-0 victory.

The game was part of Cremone’s preparations for the upcoming season in Serie B, after they were relegated from Serie A last season. Afena-Gyan’s outstanding performance in the pre-season match gave the team’s supporters hope that he may have rediscovered his scoring touch.

Afena Felix Afena-Gyan had a difficult debut season with Cremonese after joining from AS Roma for a reported fee of 6 million euros and signing a long-term contract. He did not meet the high expectations, as he only scored twice in 27 games. Unfortunately, none of these goals came during league matches, when Cremonese needed his scoring ability the most.

However, it appears that Afena-Gyan is determined to put the challenges of the past behind him and play an important role for Cremonese next season.

With Cremonese continuing their preparations in Italy, fans are optimistic about the team’s chances in the upcoming Coppa Italia match next month.

Afena-Gyan’s poor form led to his exclusion from the 2022 World Cup squad, despite helping Ghana qualify and appearing in two crucial games against Nigeria. In return, he declined a call-up to the Ghana U-23 team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
