Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has urged Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars as they aim to end the country’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy drought.

Black Stars haven’t won the competition since 1982, and it seems that many people do not believe that this team can break the jinx in Cameroon.

But Nyantakyi who lost two finals as GFA boss, one of which was in 2010, with current coach Milovan Rajevac at the helm, wants Ghanaians to have faith in the team.

“This is my country and everybody know that and this is Black Stars,” he said on Onua TV.

“When the Black Stars is playing, everybody supports the team and that is what I am also going to do.

“Let us all unite and support the team because when the team perform, everybody will say Ghana and not one person’s name.

“This is not the time to be saying stuff that divides the country. Let us all stay united and support the team,” he added.

Ghana will open their account on Monday, January 10 against Morocco.
