Hiplife Ninja Barima Sidney has revealed how a police officer frustrated him and his team of dancers moments to his performance at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs). The veteran hiplife musician said he basically had to beg before he was allowed entry into the dome of the Accra International Conference Center – where the music awards were held on Saturday, May 18 2019. His comments come as news of the 2019 VGMA inundate the media landscape following the fracas that broke out between dance hall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. Speaking in a video shared on his Youtube channel, Barima Sidney said when he was called to go on stage, a police officer manning the backdoor entrance at the dome insisted he will not let him and his team enter the auditorium despite bystanders’ plea. “The police man said he was not going to let us into the auditorium. Myself, Adwoa Smart […] we were begging to go perform. We had even showed him our tags [for the event] and I just didn’t know his reason. So, I gave up and told my team to let us go back,” he said. After about 10 minutes of ‘begging’ the unnamed police officer, Barima Sidney says, they were eventually allowed entry but that that almost spoilt his mood. “I was filled with pain, [and] anger. My mood had totally changed; knowing everybody was watching us.” He, however, encouraged his fans and Ghanaians at large to always persist in life when faced with obstacles as when he was downhearted, by the policeman’s actions, his manager insisted they will find their way on to the VGMA stage which they did. Barima Sidney performed creditably well on the night of the music awards. He has for the past years produced hit songs including ‘Ԑnnkᴐ Yie,’ ‘Obiara Nnyԑ Obiara,’ ‘Scent No’ and ‘Africa Money’ – which electrified the continent of Africa. He is set to release his biggest song ever that mentions corrupt politicians and their deals. By Solomon Mensah|3news.com|Ghana]]>
