Dead Peepol foresees going home with the plaque after the VGMA’s. They said they deserve to win the title of the Group of the Year, with their hit song Otan hunu.
Dead Peepol, the current reigning best group at the 3music awards, believe they have transferred their winning streak to this year’s VGMA. In a conversation with Mz Gee on TV3 NewDay show, Dead Peepol disclosed that they would take at least one award home out of their 3 nominations. The category they are aiming for is the Best Group of the Year.
“We are new, and we have done really well. So i feel we deserve it. May the best win. They have done well too. But we feel we should win.”
According to Dead Peepol, Kumasi is ruling the music industry with drill music. Initially, they found it tough to penetrate the industry, but now Kumericans are ruling. They said, “Even for DJ’s to add another genre to their playlist is also a very hard thing. But they have accepted, and other artists have joined in. So I think it is really doing well. And we are happy about that.”
For them, being nominated for the various categories itself is enough. They believe that the recognition for the work is an added plus in their career even if they do not win. But all the same, they are very sure that they would take home the Best Group of the Year award.
Hip-hop duo Dead Peepol have been nominated for Group of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Hip-hop Song of the Year.
