The hip life musician sued Melcom in 2016 for breach of contract after he discovered that he was still being advertised as an ambassador of the retail company when a two-year ambassadorial contract between them had expired five years ago. Per court documents filed on Thursday July 28, 2016 the artiste claimed he lost a similar promotional contract due to Melcom’s failure to remove his images on billboards after the expiration of the contract in May 31, 2011. Counsel for Tic Tac, Gary Nimako Marfo, told journalists Friday described the outcome of the case as signal to all businesses that they cannot take musicians for granted over copyright issues. “When you use someone’s intellectual property for your business, you must pay them,” Gary Nimako said.
