Hip-life musician Natty Borax has indicated that the kind of royalty Ghanaian musicians receive from the Ghana Music Right Organization(GHAMRO) is an outright insult to their craft.

Boraxe told the three wise men on Onua Fm’s Efie Ne Fie drive-time show: “They’ve paid my royalties. However, the kind of royalties Ghamro pays artists in this country is an outright insult to the artiste.”

The musician who recently signed a five-year recording contract with MOSKITOE Entertainment told Dr Prekese that he received nothing from GHAMRO for two years.

“I have hit songs like Aseeho, Nana Yaa, Pantoma, Tene won, and all my songs. For two years, I didn’t receive any royalties from GHAMRO because of Covid. The outfit only gave me only Ghs320 as my royalties. Is this not an insult?” he questioned.

He further stated that Carlos Sakyi’s administration was better than Rex Omar’s regime.

“And the funny thing is, Ghs 320 was two years of accumulated royalties that they’ve not paid. I called Rex Omar and asked, Why? Am I an emerging artist? Couldn’t you have given me just 1000 Ghs? Carlos Sakyi’s administration was better.

“So if I wasn’t working what would happen to me? Elsewhere, an artist with just one hit song will enjoy a huge amount of royalty till his deathbed,” he bemoaned.

Natty Borax is out with a new song dubbed “Sweetness”.
