People are in marriages not meant for them, it is better to be a happy ‘side chick’ – Otchere-Darko Afari

Life coach Otchere-Darko Afari has said some women are distressing themselves by getting married to partners who do not fit their purpose, likewise some men.

Mr. Afari in an interview on TV3’s New Day said some men and women are not marriage materials by nature and could be living happy lives as side chicks than in a distressed marriage.

He stressed that some men and women have been married to partners “not meant for them”.

“Not every woman is a marriage material likewise not every man is a marriage material. I tell people that [marriage is not for everyone]. People are in marriages that are not meant for them and I tell people that people could best served as side chicks and feel happy, have their peace of mind, have their houses they want to live in than becoming real wives.

“Same way men could be hanging around peoples wives and feel happy than becoming the husband themselves,” he said on TV3’s New Day Love Express session on Tuesday.

He advised Ghanaians to identify what best suits them with respect to relationship and marriage before they tie the knot.

“It is natural so you should know who you are. If you know yourself, you will be able to find the good route that will make you happy in life because marriage does not give you a certificate to heaven so you do not rush into something that you do not understand,” he added.

A study carried out by the Ghana Statistical Service through interviews between June and August 2021, revealed significant figures related to divorce, separation, and the registration status of marriages.

According to the census data, a huge number of individuals in Ghana have experienced the end of their marriages by the end of 2021.

The report indicated that a total of 553,065 people have finalized their divorces, while 405,090 individuals have gone through the process of separation.
