Musician Guru NKZ has hinted at his political ambition to contest for President of University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC) elections 2024/2025.

Guru is currently studying at the University of Ghana to bag an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Information Studies after several years of making music.

Disclosing his political ambition, Guru said he wants to become the SRC President to address some key challenges facing the university.

According to him, the establishment of a Legon Television, provision of more and adequate buses for students on campus and the introduction of some recreational activities to ease stress and pressure amongst students are some of his initiatives if he becomes the SRC President.

“I’m currently studying with the University of Ghana in Political Science and Information Studies and I’m in my third year. I want to start there because I have seen the happenings and the kind of leader that people want.”

“I’m looking forward to bringing Legon TV, students are tired of the radio station. We should have a Legon TV, the buses on campus are very few, we need to add more.”

“That’s what I want to do, go for the SRC President,” he said on TV3’ s New Day.

The musician said being a student for three years and witnessing the challenges students are bedeviled with currently, his vision is “to bring back the euphoria about the University of Ghana and the aura that attracted many students [to dream of being in UG].”

Provided Guru wins the UG SRC elections, he will join his colleague artiste Samini who also won the SRC President of GIMPA in 2022.

The duo will become the only musicians who have contested and be elected SRC Presidents in their various universities.

Guru has been nominated for the Best Hiplife song at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards slated for June 1 this year.

His song ‘Eye nwanwa’ produced by Ball J earned him the nomination.
