Appiah Dankwah, popularly known as Appietus has disagreed with the perception that Ghana music has come to a standstill because musicians do not release music consistently.

The record producer in an interview on Accra FM said all across the world, artistes do not release music every single day because creativity takes time.

“You cannot say the whole machinery has come to a halt because some artistes have not released [new] songs.

“All around the world, artistes don’t release music every day of the year, is that not so? Beyonce, for instance, does not release new music every day. After releasing an album, she’ll wait a while before releasing another or a new single,” he stated.

He criticised the action of some entertainment journalists and pundits who speak against some musicians for their delay in releasing songs.

He asserted the creation of music takes “a process,” adding creativity cannot be forced.

“It takes hard work and if they rush to put out a song, they will again be mocked for releasing a song of poor quality,” he noted.

According to him, artistes are like fruits and “have their unique season” stressing that “it’s going to be exhausting if an artiste releases music all year round.”

When an artiste’s schedule is managed haphazardly, “their health may even fail them,” he noted.

The legendary sound engineer has over 200 songs produced in his name with multiple Highlife and Hiplife hits.
