Filmmaker and Creative Writer, Peter Sedufia has disagreed with calls for Ghanaian filmmakers to push the Ghanaian narrative in their content without any support from Government.
The ‘Aloe Vera’ producer believes government must first take the initiative by providing a budget to propel that cause of telling Ghanaian stories in movies.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Sedufia opined that filmmakers are only obliged to tell stories they are inspired by on their personal budget.
“No filmmaker is obliged to tell Ghanaian stories to drive Ghanaian narratives and selling Ghana to the rest of the world, the government must budget for it and invite scripts for sponsorship to drive that cause.
“But not on my personal budget! I tell the stories I’m inspired to tell with my money,” he posted on his Instagram page.

Peter Sedufia’s comment comes at the back of recent concerns about the lack of Ghanaian narratives in content in the creative industry particularly in movies.
This year’s Ghana month seems to have reignite the conversation with calls for creative writers and directors to consider promoting the Ghanaian narratives in their content.
Peter Sedufia is known for his roles in movies like YOLO, Aloe Vera, Keteke, Sidechic Gang and others.
