MG’s Portia Gabor, Peter Adattor up for top GJA award

Portia Gabor was recently in Denmark to interact with Queen Matherethe II[/caption] Media General Group Limited has had three of its staff named by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for individual awards at the 22nd GJA Awards to be held on Wednesday. Experienced journalist Portia Gabor, who is a 2011 CNN/Multichoice African Journalist Award finalist, is one of the three. Peter Quao Adattor has also been named for the individual awards with his thrilling report on the human-controlled anaesthetic machine at the Nkwanta South District Hospital in the Volta Region, highlighting the healthcare problems in Ghana. Watch below: The Association released the names of the individual award winners on Monday. MG’s Kwabena Adu-Gyamfi will receive a special award for his efforts in helping with the fight against illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey, through journalism. He is among 11 journalists to be recognised for their efforts in fighting the menace. Members of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey will also receive special awards for their campaign in stemming galamsey. TV3‘s morning magazine show NewDay will also be honoured at the awards. This year’s event will be held at the State Banquet Hall on Wednesday morning. It will be themed: ‘Safe Mining and Environmental Protection: The Role of the Media’.
