In a night filled with twists and second chances, the recent episode of Mentor, themed “Freestyle Night” bid farewell to Ron Kay.

His last performance which was Kojo Antwi’s “Medofo Pa” failed to impress the judges. The night which focused on free expression, also saw last-minute reprieves for King George and Lynna Range, sparing them from the brink of eviction so that they get a second chance to grow their potential in the competition.

Ron Kay’s choice of Kojo Antwi’s classic hit aimed to capture the essence of love, but the judges were quick to point out flaws in his execution.

Kwabena Kwabena expressed disappointment, stating, “The diction was off; you didn’t learn the song from the maestro. This is a classic, so if you try to sing it in any other way, you must make sure that you’re killing it. Other than that, it must be sung just like the original. You were all over the place, and your timing was wrong… It was quite off. It didn’t happen for me.”

Richie added, “It was boring from beginning to end; no character in voice and in movement. This is my favorite Ghanaian song ever… You didn’t try.”

As a form of send-off, Ron Kay received a package from show sponsor Vitamilk, marking the end of his journey on Mentor Season 12.

The importance of viewer participation was underscored by the host, Chrystal Kwame-Aryee, urging fans to vote for their favorite contestants. Eviction looms, and every vote counts in this musical journey.
