After overcoming stage fright, Mentor X contestant Elysee Guy is determined to be heard and seen in Ghana and beyond. He is ready to break global boundaries benefitting the next global icon.

The 27- years old artist with the stage name Ely is a diploma holder in Fine Arts. Outside music, Ely specialists in pencil, pen and digital art. He also creates alluring paintings which compliment his soothing singing voice.

Ely shares his journey from overcoming shyness to commanding stages across the country.

“I would like to use this opportunity to encourage people like me. Because I suffered from timidity. When I was younger, I was very shy. I know how to sing way back, but I was so shy and scared of the crowd. Even talking to people was a big deal for me. My parents, until Mentor, never knew that I could sing because of that part of me.

“My brother helped me overcome my fears. He was the only person who encouraged me to sing in church and other places. The first time I did, it was amazing. People really felt it. So I started focusing and putting myself out there.”

Speaking about his Mentor experience so far, Ely was excited to have been selected as part of the top 16 contestants to qualify for the reality show.

“Music has been one of the major things I’ve been doing this whole time. I have been learning how to play instruments; the keyboard, the guitar. Being part of Mentor is a big deal for me. It’s a step forward to a bigger platform. I have already learnt a lot of things. Basically, it’s been amazing. My biggest fear is not allowing my gift to be heard or seen. Apart from that, it’s just amazing being here.”

He urges people to come out of their shells and grab every opportunity, work hard and in due time, they would reap the benefits. Follow Ely on his social media handles to sample his collection of covers of songs.
