MCE bans musical concerts in Tamale, demands apology from Fancy Gadam

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Tamale Metropolis, Iddrisu Musah Superior, has placed an indefinite ban on musical concerts within the area. This comes on the back of the death of some fans of musician, Fancy Gadam who crashed their vehicle with a moving truck 30 metres away from the Tamale Airport on Friday June 29, 2018. The deceased were among fanatics of the award winning musician Mujahid Bello with stage name Fancy Gadam, who were heading to the Tamale Airport to welcome the music icon and his Nigerian counterpart Patoraking ahead of a concert. The two were billed to perform on June 30, 2018 at the Tamale Sports Stadium after months of advertisement for the concert. Addressing the media on the issue, Musah Superior said he has been making efforts to put a stop to such concerts in the area as a result of the chaos in comes with, but management of Fancy Gadam defied his directives. “I have spoken to him, I have spoken to his manager but this young man will not listen and I tell you his fabulous talent is a danger to the good people of Tamale,” Musah Superior lamented. He further noted that the death of the fans on June 29 is cause for alarm, hence, his decision to ban any such musical concert within the Tamale Metropolis. “I have banned all concerts at the stadium. No more musical concerts until further notice. Is he the only musician in the world, there is nowhere in this world where you see this chaos and garbage. The top musicians we have in Accra don’t do this so why will fancy do that?” he questioned. Musah Superior expressed some reservation about Fancy Gadam’s music career referring to the attitude of Fancy Gadam as irresponsible, calling on him to apologise to his fans and the families of the deceased fans.
