Music Business Dialogue is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture together with its agencies and Media General[/caption] The maiden edition of the Music Business Dialogue put together by Media General in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and its agencies – the Creative Arts Council, the Ghana Tourism Authority – successfully explored the various opportunities that exist for creatives to make money out of their talent. A discussion led by a panel of seasoned actors in the show business landscape explored the available opportunities both online and offline for upcoming artistes and mainstream artistes alike to make the most out of their arts. On the panel were Conrad Nyur, the General Manager of Mobile Content Limited, Abraham Ohene Djan, the CEO of Fiesta TV and OM Studios, Francis Doku, the General Manager of MG Digital, and hosted by award-winning broadcaster, Johnnie Hughes. Some keynotes that emerged in the discussions include:
- The need to have data on the contribution of showbiz or arts to national growth.
- The need to reorient the people to appreciate art as a product that must be paid for and not free.
- The need to involve people with expertise in the art industry.
- The need to for the restructuring the policy framework of some of the creative art regulatory agencies.
- The need to keep up with modern technology.
- The need for strategic collaborations.
- The need to have an institution that provides training and guidance to people who wish to pursue a career in the creative arts.
