For Ghanaian gospel musician Patience Nyarko, the supposed disunity among Ghanaian gospel musicians is just an exaggerated phenomenon. According to her, even heaven had some discord at some point.

Patience Nyarko, in an interview on Onua FM’s Anigye Mmere, told Larry the Oldman that discordance within a group is expected.

“Have you ever fought with your siblings? That is exactly how it is in the industry. Gospel musicians are not angels. Even in heaven, there was a misunderstanding. People only see togetherness when we do a collaboration.”

According to Patience Nyarko, making a song is different for secular musicians and gospel musicians. She details how spirit-filled directions are issued by the Holy Spirit before anything is materialised. So collaborations are not at the spur of the moment.

“Our work is not the same as that of secular musicians. When you are praying and a message drops into your spirit to record a song. As you are going, you are receiving directions on what to do. It doesn’t happen by chance.”
