Ghanaian Afrobeats and R&B singer Camidoh has expressed confidence in winning the BET’s Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act he has been nominated for.

The Sugarcane hitmaker bagged the nomination on Thursday, June 8 as the nominees’ list was released by the organisers.

He faces competition from eight other talented global artistes ahead of the event at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday, June 25.

Speaking on his chances of winning the gong, Camidoh, born Raphael Kofi Attachie, said he is “super confident” of winning the category.

“I am super confident,” he stated on TV3‘s New Day on Friday, June 9.

“Being nominated there means you stand an equal chance. Like everyone in that category stands an equal chance because obviously if there were certain criteria to be ticked for you to be nominated, that means everyone’s box was ticked and that’s why they were nominated.”

The two-time awardee at the 24th VGMAs comes up against Asake of Nigeria, Raye and Flo of the UK, Labianca of Cameroon, Maureen and Werenoi of France, MC Ryan FC of Brazil and Pabi Cooper of South Africa for the coveted award.

It will be strictly by voting, which ends on Thursday, June 15.

Camidoh says he will canvass for votes from his fans and all who support his nomination.

“The information we got is that my people have to vote [and] like the posts, so I will just call on the public or everyone that is really in support of my nomination to just go on BET International [and] I have shared it on my Instagram story, so people just need to click that and like it.

“That’s the only way to be certain that you’re winning.”
