Ghanaian actor Michael Afrane, who has been a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 2016, has said that he has been a politician from age 20.

Mr. Afrane, who was on Akoma FM‘s Kwantenpon Drive hosted by Tony Best, said that on Thursday, October 29, he was once an Assembly member for Esereso, a suburb of Kumasi.

“I was a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) until I found the light in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) almost 5 years ago.”

Even though a good number of Ghanaians find it difficult accepting actors and actresses who switch into mainstream politics, Mr. Afrane still thinks his political affiliation with the NDC should not be the reason people may not patronize his movies or movie producers not calling him up for movie roles.

Mr. Afrane, who has always declared support for former President John Mahama, thinks the Akufo-Addo-led administration has failed Ghanaians, especially the creative arts industry, and that Mr. Mahama is winning the 2020 election or else he quits appearing on screens.
