Veteran Gospel musician, Amy Newman reveals that sometimes, she records some of her songs on an empty stomach.

In an interview with Nana Ama McBrown on Onua Showtime, the gospel artiste recounted how her journey in the music industry began, indicating how realization dawned on her that she had been called into ministry in the late 1980s.

“In 86, I realized that I had been called into ministry so I started seeking the face of God. I sought the face of God for about 3 years,” she shared.

It was in 1989 that she got her first gig to record in a studio and according to her, it was after that session that she became aware of the abundant grace in her life.

“In 89, I got the opportunity to record a song in the studio. When I got to the studio, I did what God wanted me to do. After that, things began to unfold and I saw that there was so much grace upon my life,” she added.

The ‘Okamafo Jesus’ singer disclosed that before every studio session, she would seek the face of God for 7 days in a period of fasting and prayers and by virtue of that, she would sometimes record her new song with nothing in her stomach.

“Before going to the studio, for 7 days, I fast and ask God what I have to do. He will then equip me with strength. In all my songs, preparation is not easy. Sometimes I stand in the studio to sing on an empty stomach because if I haven’t finished recording the song, I can’t go and eat,” she stated.

After pointing out the fact that preparation towards a new song was not easy, the acclaimed singer gave out some details concerning the 7-day-fast which involved the ministering of angels to her.

“For the 7-day fast, I drink only water and I realize that the angels are with me because we have ministering angels. Sometimes, you do not leave home with already prepared lyrics to the song but then when you get to the studio, the angels begin to minister it to you. So there are some songs that we get right from the studio and sing,” she said.
