Renowned Music Executive, George Mensah Britton has decried the behaviour of Ghanaian fans in relation to certain talented acts including Bisa Kdei.
Bisa Kdei who is considered one of Ghana’s foremost musical voices unfortunately has been tagged as a “funeral singer” because of its appeal, especially amongst funeralgoers.
The artiste manager and publicist believes the tag is not only erroneous but disrespectful to Bisa Kdei’s hard work and craft over the years.
“One of the artistes people really look down on in this country is Bisa Kdei. They tag him as a funeral singer but he is in a lot of top conversations,” he pointed out.
Britton further stressed that Bisa Kdei’s music was not only enjoyed by Ghanaians but also by music lovers around the world which also landed him a seat in renowned spaces.
“I mean a few days ago there was Grammy conversation and the only Ghanaian guy whose name was featured was Bisa Kdei,” referring to his Herbal Tea and White Sofa feature.
Setting the records straight he mentioned that every musical artistes deserve to represent Ghanaian sounds on the global stage as far as they were willing to put in the work
“We shouldn’t have that mindset that this person deserves it and another doesn’t when it comes to pushing an act internationally” explained the showbiz pundit “Each and everyone who sees music as a business and wants to take it upon himself and do it and do it right deserves to be pushed
George Britton joined a discussion earlier today on TV3 New Day with AJ Sarpong and Berla Mundi about investing in artistes as well as the business of showbiz.
A number of Ghanaian acts including Sister Afia and Gyakie have also credited Bisa Kdei with helping to shape their sounds when they first set off in the industry.
