Lupita Nyong’o shares ‘love letter’ to Accra

Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o has opened up about her love for Ghana’s capital, Accra and its industrious women.

The Mexican-Kenyan actress in an Instagram post detailed her visit to Accra in a short documentary video where she visited many parts of the city engaging with women in various career fields.

The multiple award-winning actress was seen in the video riding with a group of female motorbike riders, engaging women in batik workshops, food vendors and fashion designers.

 In her letter addressed to ‘Glorious Accra’, she acknowledged the influence of women in the city and the significant impact they have amassed in their various fields of work.

Lupita believes that these women run Accra with an unflinching entrepreneurial spirit.

Her love letter to Accra reads: “Glorious Accra, to celebrate you is to celebrate your fierce women, so many fierce women wherever I go. They run this town with an entrepreneurial spirit, that is impossible to ignore. Their impact is widespread. It feels as if everything you touch here has been influenced by women. From the fashion to the factories to the flavours, the women of Accra are fueling the present for a vibrant future. I love to see it. Go get it, ladies.”

Her recent letter to Accra follows the actress’s earlier visits to countries and cities she has visited including Tanzania’s Zanzibar and Benin.
