Nero – X on Music Music[/caption] A home-grown social campaign dubbed #BringBackOurTaadiGirls, to help find and rescue three girls who have been kidnapped in the Sekondi-Takoradi municipality, gained momentum of TV3’s Music Music show last Saturday. The music show, which featured two key artistes – Nero X and Ayesem from the Western Region, saw their performances inundated with campaign messages and branded attires designed to galvanize support for the campaign. There have been similar campaigns in the media, all geared towards creating a concerted front to find the girls who have been held hostage at unknown locations. But Saturday’s Music Music gave an opportunity for campaigners to engage closely with in-studio audience and those at home. Even though the Ghana Police Service has taken up the matter and arrested one Samuel Wills, who is currently assisting investigations to discover the whereabouts of the girls, the public has taken to social campaigns, hoping to push an agenda for the authorities to expedite action. Clad in a #BringBackOurTaadiGirls branded t-shirt, Stephen Kwabena Siaw, known by his stage name Ayesem, led a thrilling live-band performance and stopped mid-way to solicit support for the cause. The ‘Koti’ hit maker expressed how important it was for the general public to join in the campaign to find the girls. On his part, the award-winning and Yawa Dey’ singer, Nero-X, also appeared on stage with a branded shirt and also added his voice to the campaign, noting the issues of kidnapping must be tackled as a national problem and not a Takoradi problem. Host of the show Nana Kwame noted, “Music Music is solidly behind you on this campaign to bring back the girls.” Notwithstanding, patrons were treated to great musical performances from the “West side” artistes, giving credence to the adage: “The best comes from the west”.
