The 16 contestants for the 2019 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) television reality show have arrived in Kumasi ahead of their unveiling at a grand durbar in the Ashanti regional capital this Sunday. Prior to Sunday’s event, which has received endorsement from the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, the contestants will join the Media General family in celebration of what has been dubbed the ‘Oseikrom Invasion’. The ladies arrived in Kumasi Thursday and hit the ground running on Friday with rehearsals against the big show on Sunday. Also known as the Ashanti Invasion, the MG group will this weekend take over the once Garden City with a series of entertainment events to launch two of its newest media brands; Akoma FM (in Kumasi) and Onua TV (on digital channel). Events for the big celebration will kick-off Saturday morning with a musical float on the principal streets of Kumasi. The rebranded Music Music show will line up some of the best rappers from and outside the Ashanti Region for live musical performances at the Heroes Park. On Sunday, each of the ladies representing the 16 regions of Ghana will be unveiled at a grand durbar at the Heroes Park to signal the start of the 13 weeks journey to stardom. For the period of the show which will be live on Onua TV and TV3, they will educate you on the culture of their respective regions while entertaining you with performances on weekly basis. “I came in very prepared because culture is culture…this isn’t going to be anything new. I’m used to pressure because my work entails a lot of pressure,” Afia from the Ahafo Region said. The Amamereso Agofomma backed the contestants with traditional rhythms as they rehearsed various cultural dances Friday. For Saa from the Western North Region, she cannot wait to display how her people behave, eat and dance. “I’m very happy we have the Western North Region and at least somebody from my place can represent us without going to the Western Region. I would want to tell my people to expect a lot from me” she said. Prince Darkeh, the GMB project coordinator, has been busy just to make the launch successful launch and a memorable one. He told 3news.com “everything has been put together to ensure a smooth event come Sunday.” Sunday’s launch becomes the second time that Ghana’s Most Beautiful has been done in the Ashanti regional capital.
