The Police Hospital administration has announced that one hundred and fifty (150) unknown and unclaimed bodies in the hospital’s morgue would be given mass burial in December. The exercise, the hospital says, forms part of routine measures to decongest the Police Hospital mortuary. Medical Director at the Police Hospital, DCOP J. Owiredu-Nkansah has in a notice asked “interested members of the public to contact the Pathology Department of the Police Hospital for identification of such unknown and unclaimed bodies”. “The mass burial will take place after Twenty-one (21) days from this announcement,” a notice dated November 12, 2018 said. The notice encouraged members of the general public to inform relatives and friends of their movements and travel schedules. People have also been advised to acquire the habit of always having some form of personal identification of any kind on them to help the police and others easily identify them whenever they are in any health crisis or involved in an accident.
