Wa West Member of Parliament, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has said that over-lobbying to get an appointment makes it difficult to execute the functions of persons who eventually get the appointment.

He stated that although lobbying is real in every facet of life, the practice must be decent and guided by rules and regulations.

Asked whether the conversation about lobbying to become the Inspector General of Police (IGP) is real while speaking on the Sunrise show on 3FM with Johnnie Hughes on Thursday, February 22, the retired Police officer said “Lobbying generally, is real in every facet of life, people lobby to become ministers. As we are speaking people are lobbying to become vice presidential candidates of Dr Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama, lobbying is everywhere but at what length should we go? how dirty can it be? how do you restrain it?

“One of the IGPs made a statement some time ago, David Asante Appiatu, said when you over the lobby and you are given an appointment you can never perform because the network of pool their resources together to get you that appointment they the same network of people you have to respect, even if the break laws you will find it very difficult to close your eyes and perform your job.

“They will tell you you think you were the only one qualified at the time, no you weren’t.”

He stressed, “Lobbying must be decent, guided by rules and regulations.”
