The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) has announced the resumption of transportation of gas to Tema.

The Company on Thursday, January 12 shut down its facility in Takoradi to allow for the replacement of some valves it described as “critical”.

The decision was aimed at securing the safety and integrity of the Takoradi Station, WAPCo had explained.

On Friday, January 20, management announced the successful completion of the exercise.

“The WAPCo project team worked collaboratively with our contractors and stakeholders to ensure that the shutdown activities were safely and seamlessly executed and completed days ahead of schedule,” it said.

“The early completion of the works is an outcome of the review and optimization of the execution strategy by WAPCo’s team and the Contractor.

The Company expressed gratitude to all stakeholders including the Volta River Authority (VRA), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) “for their support to minimize the impact of the shutdown on communities as well as the safe and successful execution of this project”.
