We don’t trust the Police – Akatsi Youth

Youth Activist in Akatsi in the Volta Region, Selorm Ameza, has said they do not trust the Police to deal with the shooting and killing of two people in the community.

Speaking on the News 360 on TV3 Wednesday April 12, he said “One of the things is, a lot of the youth don’t trust the Police in Akatsi and the youth don’t trust the politicians, that is the problem.”

The Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, has however told the youth not to take the law into their hands following the shooting incident in the area by the Police.

He called on the youth to trust that justice will be done by the court in the matter.

“Justice emanates from but exercised by the judiciary, they should exercise patience,” he said in interview with TV3 on Tuesday April 12.

Two persons were shot dead following a clash with the Police in Akatsi, Volta Region.

This happened on Sunday, April 10. This occurred after the youth of the area went on the rampage.

The Police riot control van had allegedly knocked down and run over three persons on a motorbike, leading the the melee.

The lawmaker for the area described shooting as needless.

“Never again should this happen at Akasti South,” he said.
