Will Smith and Jada Pinkett’s marriage has evolved from a monogamous relationship to something less exclusive. And the couple believes that their new arrangement is the best for their marriage and hopefully for others.

According to Will Smith, they chose monogamy for the largest part of their relationship because it seemed to be the only relational perfection for a couple. Speaking to GQ, he said, “There were significant, endless discussions about, ‘What is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”

Unfortunately, at some point, they felt miserable in the monogamous arrangement, especially when Jada has never been fond of conventional relationships.

“I’m not the kind of woman that believes that a man’s not gonna be attracted to other women. It’s just not realistic. And just because your man is attracted to another woman doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you,” Jada shared.

Currently, the couple calls themselves life partners instead of married. They described this new form as a way of shattering all expectations outside marriage and seeing each other as human beings.

Last year, Will and Jada went viral after an episode of the Red Table Talk revealed an entanglement between August Alsina and Jada when the couple was on an indefinite break that felt final. Will hasn’t been faithful either, and although he would like to keep the details under wraps, he confessed to indulging in extramarital affairs.
