Communications Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Stanley Martey, has said that the prevailing water supply challenges in parts of Accra will be resolved by Wednesday, January 24.

Some areas in Accra have recently experienced water crisis for over two weeks, thus affecting the daily lives of residents in these areas.

Residents from areas such as Adenta, Kaneshie, Darkuman, Lapaz, Kasoa, Teshie and Weija have lamented the recent temporary cuts in water supply.

Speaking in an interview on TV3’s News Central on Monday, Mr. Martey explained that the intermittent cut in water supply is due to repairs being undertaken on some old equipment.

He assured that works have now been completed on the equipment and uninterrupted supply of water will begin Wednesday.

“Be thou as it may, we are supposed to supply water to everybody, the rationing is on and we are faced with the challenge but we are still producing but not at full capacity. But we are working seriously to ensure that the challenge is fixed and then everybody can have water by the close of Wednesday, January 24,” he said.

Mr. Martey apologised to the general public for the inconvenience caused due to the current water supply situation.
