This was contained in a statement signed by the deputy regional secretary of the party, Gbande Mustapha who also entreated all members to disregard such “premature and childish emotional expression” describing it as “baseless and unnecessary.”
The statement further indicated that “no one has the right whatsoever to issue such a statement on behalf of the regional executives and government appointees. We therefore assure his Excellency the president that he has the support of the entire region to take any decision in the interest of the party and progress of the nation.”
This reaction by the NDC regional executives come on the back a statement from a group calling itself NDC Volta Youth for Action which threatened not to vote for President Mahama in the 2016 elections, because of the replacement of Prosper Bani as Chief of Staff.
According to the angry youth, the president has not been fair to the region in the latest reshuffle adding that they have the support of regional executives, MPs and opinion leaders and they would campaign against the president if something is not done about it.
These claims have been dismissed by the regional executives who say none of the key personalities mentioned by the group is in support of such an action.
The president made a few major changes at the seat of government bringing in Julius Debrah as the new Chief of Staff and Prosper Bani being made an ambassador extraordinaire and plenipotentiary.
