The “Visit Volta”, “Experience Ghana” campaign continues as the brand ambassadors for the Volta Region’s November Volta Fair storm the region ahead of World Tourism Celebrations being marked in the Volta Region.

3FM & TV3’s Dzifa Bampoh together with the Ghana Tourism Authority’s Ivy Prosper and GTV’s Kafui Dey have been on tour once again in the Volta region to draw attention and raise the profile of some tourism destinations.

Gemi Mountain or Mount Gemi ( the German Breman Missionaries placed a cross at the peak of the summit)

The Volta Region is repositioning itself as the unexplored and untapped tourism destination in Ghana. On day 1; Saturday, Dzifa Bampoh together with her colleagues visited “Somewhere in Sogakofe” a hotel and agritourism centre where one can fish in its pond for catfish and have it prepared for the client.

Similar to Agro Tourism Centre “Point and Kill” … which the team visited during their July tour. Also on the bill was a visit to the base of the Adaklu mountain, meeting some traditional leaders and queen mothers. The day closed with a brave drive up the hill to Amedzorfe, in the Ho West Municipality and the highest human settlement in the Volta Region (some 2400 feet, approximately 730 meters above sea level). The most beautiful scenery at Amedzorfe is evident at dawn where the hills which make up the Akuapem Togo Ranges and Mount Gemi are a sight to behold.

Dzifa Bampoh and the team, ahead of World Tourism Day being marked in Hohoe on Monday 27 September, visited the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary to visit the rare Tru-Mona Monkeys only located in Nigeria and Cameroon. The Tru-Mona monkeys are very friendly; once you have bananas to feed them with. The TourGuide, Francis Acquaye explained that there are 16 troops of monkeys with 120monkeys making up each troop totaling one thousand nine hundered and twenty monkeys.

A subsequent tour saw a visit to the Lati Wote Community, custodians of Mount Afadza popularly known as Afadzato the highest mountain in Ghana. To whip up interest for World Tourism Day, the Ghana Tourism Authority organized a mountain hike challenge at Afadzato.

Hotels and eateries were not left out and there was lots of fun to be had at Kikis Guest House at Hohoe. The team have periodically been posting pictures and videos of their engagements with the hashtag #visitvolta #experienceghana.

The final leg of the #visitvolta tour will be in November when the Volta Fair 21 takes place at the Ho Stadium.
