Staff of the Ghana Airport Company Limited Wednesday demonstrated against management for what they say is a move to privatize the country’s foremost airport. A memo from the Presidency to the Minister for Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, on March 24, 2020, approved the latter’s request to “facilitate the engagement of TAV-SUMMA Consortium as strategic partners to the Ghana Airport Company Limited”. The approval, as was contained in the memo, was “for the improvement of service delivery and expansion of infrastructure at the Kotoka International Airport”. But the staff say the arrangement will eventually leave the management of the airport in private hands, a move they are resisting. Clad in red and black attires and bands, the staff demonstrated at the premises of the company, demanding that the Managing Director of the company be sacked for failing in his responsibilities.
