The National Chief Imam, His Eminence Dr Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, on Friday, July 2 joined Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on the latter’s visit to Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Their visit comes days after military officers killed three protesters during protests to demand justice following the murder of one Ibrahim Anyass Mohammed, popularly known as Macho Kaaka on Facebook.

Macho Kaaka, whose burial sparked the protests, died a few days after he was attacked by a mob in his Dagombaline neighbourhood.

Despite calm being restored to the area, Vice President Bawumia was in Ejura to meet religious and opinion leaders as well visit families affected by the action of the military.

Our reporter Ibrahim Abubakar reported that the Chief Imam expressed satisfaction with government’s constitution of a three-member committee to probe the matter.

“Sheikh Nuhu Usmanu Sharubutu, however, expects the three-member committee to be guided by the principle of truth in discharging its duty for justice to prevail.”

Vice President Bawumia and Sheikh Nuhu Usmanu Sharubutu visited the house of the deceased to commiserate with the families.

They assured families of Murtala Mohammed Suraj and Abdul Nasiru Yusif of government’s resolve to establish the truth that led to their untimely death.

The National Chief Imam prayed for the departed souls and asked the bereaved families take heart.
