The United States of America Embassy in Accra has asked all citizens to exercise caution if within the precincts of any large gatherings and comply with all police and security service instructions, among other actions, as a result of the demonstration by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an alert to citizens, the Embassy said it is aware of the planned march on Tuesday, starting at 6:00am from the Accra Mall.

“The activity is likely to draw a large crowd and disrupt traffic,” it noted.

“Considerable police presence and heavy congestion are expected along the planned route, beginning from Accra Mall at 6 am and then moving south towards Parliament House throughout the day.”

It, therefore, issued some action-to-take instructions to American citizens in Accra.

“Monitor local media for updates. Exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings or protests. Plan for alternate travel routes. Comply with all police and security service instructions. Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security, travel, and health updates.”

A number was also provided for recorded messages to be sent to.
