Fuseina Yussif, who was sleeping alone in one of the rooms, was caught up and could not escape from the inferno.
The fire, according to the owner of the house, started at about 11:30 pm on Wednesday, December 30 in the deceased’s room, lasted for about three hours before being brought under control by fire officers.
The mortal remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue, awaiting burial as per Islamic traditions.
Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service got to the scene after an hour of call, our reporter gathered.
Investigations have begun, however, to establish the cause of the fire, TV3’s Zubaida Ismail says.
